KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala, stated that the attack took place in the community of KwaMakhutha, located about 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Durban. He added that the local community is deeply affected by this incident and is in shock and mourning. Of the 11 victims, 10 died at the scene, and one passed away after being transported to the hospital.
