Ovechkin, who is recognized as one of the greatest players in hockey history, has stated that after retirement he will return to his home country, Russia.

Ovechkin also became a Stanley Cup champion in 2018 with the Washington Capitals, and this success has ensured his name remains in the history of hockey.

Decision to Retire
In a recent interview, Ovechkin spoke about his feelings regarding retirement and mentioned that this decision has been very difficult. He added: "I have spent my whole life on hockey, and now that I reach this point, I feel it is time to focus on my new life. I am returning to Russia and hope to help the youth in my homeland." The 38-year-old player also emphasized that he still has a passion for hockey and may engage in other areas such as coaching or analysis in the future. Ovechkin continued: "I love this sport and always want to be involved in some way."
