Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister of the UK, is better at connecting with people than Tony Blair. Wes Streeting, the UK Defense Secretary, mentioned this during his trip to Brussels and Berlin, stating that this could help initiate a serious dialogue about returning to the pre-Brexit status.
Discussion on Brexit
Streeting stated in this discussion that while Blair was a "generational political leader," he does not possess Burnham's style of dialogue. He believes that this style of dialogue could be useful in discussing the "trauma" of Brexit. Streeting said, "The UK government will start discussions with the public and the European Commission around the summit to explore what the outcomes would be if we had more targeted goals in our relationship with Europe?"

Government and Early Elections
Streeting also pointed out that one of Burnham's main goals is to clarify his demands and raise public awareness about these demands. He added, "When we have a clear view of what we really want and people have a better understanding of their situation, then we will think about what we want in our next election program."
Since taking office as Prime Minister earlier this year, Burnham has been seeking to strengthen positive relations with Europe, leading to speculation that he may call for early general elections to gain a mandate to address the complex and costly issues on his agenda.
Streeting further stated, "I think the only place where early general elections exist is in the speculations of columnists and talking points of the Conservative Party leadership." He added, "I don't know how many more times Andy or cabinet members have to say that there are no early elections for this to sink in."
