The TIME100 Art Impact Dinner took place on October 5 in New York, where artists, collectors, curators, and other cultural figures came together to discuss the impact of art on communities and generations. This event was held to introduce the first TIME100 Art list.

Special Talks on Art Night

At this event, seven prominent figures from the art world delivered speeches and talks. Among these individuals were Ronald Lauder, art collector and entrepreneur, Matthew Bogdanos, art crime prosecutor, and renowned artists such as Amy Sherald and Mari Watt. Each of these individuals shared their experiences and perspectives on art and its impact on human lives.

Ronald Lauder began his speech by expressing his love for art since the age of 12 at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and explained how seeing Picasso's works inspired him to learn about the history of the Spanish Civil War. He added that art can preserve history and expand our perspectives.

Important Messages from Artists

Matthew Bogdanos, who has spent over two decades searching for lost artworks, emphasized the importance of collaboration in combating art crimes and stated that his successes are the result of collective efforts and working with others. He also referred to the cultural artifacts he has recovered and returned to countries, stating that these works represent our shared cultural heritage.

Amy Sherald, a famous painter known for her portrait of Michelle Obama, mentioned the concept of 'impact' in the art world during her speech, stating that the impact of art occurs in small and insignificant moments, not just in sales statistics and the number of exhibitions.

This event was somewhat of a festival of art and culture, demonstrating how art can provide us with hope and connection in difficult times. Lauder concluded by stating that he and other collectors act as 'guardians' of art and emphasized the importance of preserving and passing on this heritage to future generations.
