Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, says that the country warned Britain that Iran was planning to attack an airbase. He also criticized Britain for continuing to pressure the Israeli government regarding its treatment of Palestinians.

Iran's Involvement in the Farford Incident

Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister of Britain, said yesterday: "There are strong indications that Iran was involved in what happened over the weekend at the Royal Air Force base in Farford; however, a complex and serious police investigation is still underway, and we are working closely with the United States."

The U.S. had used this base in the war against Iran. Mr. Netanyahu stated in an interview with Fox News that Israel had provided information regarding an attack plan to Britain shortly before Burnham's government imposed sanctions on Israeli settlement products in the occupied West Bank on September 8 (17 Shahrivar).

Netanyahu's Criticism of Britain

Mr. Netanyahu also said: "Do you want to know how strange and unreasonable the situation there has become and how far anti-Israeli propaganda has gone?" He added: "We provided the British with information that an attack is going to take place, and this attack will be supported by Iran. And almost the next day, they imposed sanctions against us."

Andy Burnham, who became Prime Minister in late July, has taken a tougher stance towards Israel and stated that the previous British government had not taken sufficient action in this regard. He imposed these sanctions following a wave of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank; violence that included physical attacks and the destruction of Palestinian property.

Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, reacted to Mr. Burnham's statements regarding Iran's involvement in the Farford incident and wrote on X: "Prime Minister Burnham said the British government can confirm that it believes Iran was involved in the incident at the Royal Air Force base in Farford."

Mr. Araghchi continued: "I can also confirm that from Iran's perspective, releasing individuals who are said to be terrorists linked to foreign governments speaks for itself. You are looking for the culprit in the wrong place."
