A bus carrying students crashed in eastern France on Friday morning, leaving this tragic incident with two dead. According to initial reports, a child and a young adult lost their lives in the crash, and 16 others were injured, with three of them reported to be in critical condition.

The crash occurred near the town of Lent in the Ain department, and according to local officials, the bus went off the road around 7 AM (local time) and collided with a tree beside the road. The mayor of Lent, Yves Christian, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced that about 100 firefighters and 50 police officers were dispatched to the scene, and surrounding roads were closed.

Édouard Geffray, the French Minister of Education, while visiting a school in the Paris area, said: "It is always a difficult moment when our students and children become victims of an incident like this. According to officials, the bus had 43 passengers at the time of the crash, 15 of whom were children. Additionally, an investigation into involuntary manslaughter due to traffic accidents has been initiated. The bus driver, who was taken to the hospital after the incident, has not yet been questioned.
