Optimism regarding the impact of the Trump administration on the situation in Cuba has increased among Cuban political activists. These activists believe that the economic and political pressures from the Trump administration could weaken the ruling regime and ultimately lead to fundamental changes. They particularly emphasized that these pressures should be targeted and focused on supporting the Cuban opposition.
Call for opposition participation
Families of victims of the regime and survivors of prisons also expressed concern that international pressures without the active participation of the Cuban opposition may not lead to real changes. They called for greater attention to the needs of the opposition and strengthening democratic movements in the country. Joseph Daniel Ferrer, a prominent activist, emphasized that without considering the desires and needs of the Cuban people, no sustainable and effective change will be possible.
