A major incident in the Spanish rail transport industry occurred on Wednesday when two high-speed trains collided near Orda in the province of Toledo. According to reports, this accident, which happened before 9 AM local time, left at least 30 dead and several injured. This incident comes just months after the Adamuz train accident that resulted in the deaths of dozens and has reignited criticism of the government.

Details of the Accident

Reports indicate that one of the trains belonged to the "Renfe" company and collided with the stationary "Iryo" train. This collision caused two Iryo carriages to fall into a slope beside the railway. Both trains were heading towards Madrid and Seville. Local officials in Castilla-La Mancha told the media that the number of victims from this accident is expected to exceed the 46 killed in the Adamuz accident.

Reactions to the Accident

Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister of Spain, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences and support to the victims and their families. He also called on emergency services to work at the accident site to assist the injured and ensure their safety.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the leader of the People's Party, also expressed concern over reports related to this new accident and stated that the current priority is to assist the victims and support their families. The Adamuz accident had severely criticized Sánchez's government, and the People's Party has called for accountability regarding rail transport safety.

In the wake of these incidents, criticism of the government and the performance of the Ministry of Transport is expected to intensify significantly. Sánchez, who has faced criticism since the beginning of this year, was questioned in a session of the Spanish Parliament regarding the government's response to the Adamuz accident.
