Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced on Thursday that Ukraine's decision to end the ceasefire at Russian energy facilities is "disgraceful." These remarks were made following reports of an airstrike on an oil refinery in the Ryazan region of Russia.

Ukraine's attacks on Russian energy facilities

Pavel Malikov, the governor of the Ryazan region, stated that this refinery was targeted in a major attack using Ukrainian drones, although Ukrainian officials have not yet confirmed this. This is the first reported attack on Russian energy infrastructure since the announcement of an energy ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow by Trump last Sunday.

While Russia continued its attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, Ukraine had adhered to the ceasefire in the Russian energy sector. However, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced on Wednesday that this ceasefire has ended. Trump strongly criticized this decision, stating that this action would lead to an increase in global oil prices.

Trump's criticism of Zelensky and global consequences

In an interview with Newsmax, Trump said, "What he is doing is only driving up oil prices around the world. Well, I think this is a disgrace." He also added that he is "not a big fan of Zelensky" and considered Zelensky to be "tougher to deal with than Putin."

He continued, "There are many targets you can attack, but when you attack diesel refineries that produce diesel and we need it and the world needs it, he is not doing a good service to the world." Trump's remarks reflect his concerns about the economic impacts of these attacks on the global oil market.

Relations between Kyiv and the White House have been under significant strain since Trump's announcement last week regarding the reduction of sanctions on Russian diesel imports. Additionally, Ukraine's Starlink services have also been limited, which has added to the tensions.
