Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, less than 24 hours before the midterm elections, delivered a speech near the Lincoln Memorial, strongly attacking the Democratic Party and stating that if his supporters show up at the polls, Republicans will have a "decisive victory."

Importance of the Midterm Elections

Trump described this election as "the most important midterm election of our lifetime" and continued his criticisms of the Democrats. He claimed that this party has "nominated the most extreme and dangerous candidates in American history." Trump also criticized the Democrats' plans on various issues, from transgender rights to immigration.

In this speech, he said: "We must keep our Congress strong and free" and reminded his supporters that "America is ready. They are ready to vote. I hope they are ready to do the right thing."

Challenges for Republicans and Polls

Trump further stated that he has won in many states in the 2024 elections and urged his supporters to vote on election day. He noted that historically, the party in power at the White House tends to lose seats in midterm elections. He also reminded that if his supporters come to the polls, Republicans can achieve a significant victory.

According to polls, it seems that Democrats are trying to regain control of Congress. Recent polls indicate that a majority of voters intend to vote for Democrats. In states that have long been under Republican control, such as Texas and South Carolina, evidence suggests that Republican candidates are struggling to maintain their advantage.

By Monday afternoon, more than 57.5 million Americans had cast their votes before election day. In states with party registration, Democrats make up nearly 43 percent of early voters, while Republicans account for only 31.7 percent of voters.

However, given that millions more voters are expected to show up on election day, Republicans, who have leaned more towards in-person voting in recent years, may close this gap. Election results in several key states may not be clear until days after the polls close.
