Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, called for the recognition of an independent state of Palestine in his speech at the UN General Assembly. Erdogan emphasized that any attempt to suffocate the Palestinian government will fail and expressed hope that one day Palestine will be established as an independent state with the borders of 1967 and East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Situation in Gaza and Casualties
Erdogan continued by referring to the situation in Gaza, stating that since the fragile ceasefire agreement reached last year with Turkey's help, more than 1500 people have lost their lives in the region. He also pointed to the negative impacts of Israeli occupation on the peace process, stating that the Israeli government has refused to halt its occupation. Erdogan also mentioned the increase in violence from settlers in the West Bank, framing it as a humanitarian issue and a matter of collective conscience.

Turkey's Role in Regional Policies
Erdogan is known as a staunch critic of Israel, and relations between the two countries are strained due to the situation in Syria and other issues. He also referred to Turkey's efforts to issue an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu on charges of genocide, which faced negative reactions from the Israeli Prime Minister's office.
The United States government was also present at the assembly. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, addressed the issue of national sovereignty and independence, standing against "globalism." He emphasized that freedom is not a right that can be easily obtained and that this right will never be surrendered.
Global Challenges and Trump's Policies
In his speech, Trump referred to global challenges including the wars in Venezuela and Iran, emphasizing that the United States will not fear any threats. He also mentioned agreements made to control Venezuela's oil resources, calling it the largest agreement in history.
At the assembly, the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, also criticized the failures of the UN in preventing wars, stating that the credibility of this institution has never been lower.
Given the current state of the world and existing challenges, the speeches of Erdogan and Trump represent two different perspectives on global and regional issues. Erdogan emphasizes human rights and justice, while Trump focuses more on national sovereignty and countering threats.
