Gandhi told the protesters at a rally in Ramlila Maidan, Delhi, that they would increase pressure on Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He announced at the rally that they would continue the fight against these two officials following the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner. Gandhi emphasized that legal actions would be taken against Modi and Shah for election fraud.

Protests Against the Election Commission

Gandhi further stated that the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar would be the first step to bringing the country back on the right track. He criticized the new reforms in the voter list that have removed over 130 million names from the voting rolls. These reforms have specifically harmed minorities, and opposition parties claim that this action has been taken in favor of the ruling party.

Presence of Opposition Leaders

The rally was attended by several opposition party leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, as well as regional party leaders such as Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Mehbooba Mufti, and Tejashwi Yadav. This rally is part of a series of protests that have taken place over the past month against Gyanesh Kumar and the controversial updates to the voter list.

Gandhi added at the rally that without Gyanesh Kumar, Modi would never have reached the position of Prime Minister, and Amit Shah would never have become the Home Minister. He called for accountability from the officials for the issues that have arisen and urged the people to remain steadfast in this struggle.

Season of Protests in Delhi

The cold weather is gradually settling in Delhi, and air pollution and protests are simultaneously on the rise. This time of year, when pleasant temperatures prevail in Delhi, is especially enjoyable for going outside, but air quality is severely deteriorating, with the AQI reaching over 400. Recent gatherings indicate a new season of protests in Delhi that continues.

Gandhi and other opposition leaders have clearly stated that they will continue the fight against the ruling government and invite the people to stand against oppression and injustice. This rally is seen as a significant action towards a broader coalition of opposition parties seeking change in current policies.
