The Houthis of Yemen killed three people and injured several others in a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Thursday. This is the third time this week that this armed group claims to have targeted the airport.

Details of the Houthi missile attack

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, announced that their armed forces attacked Riyadh Airport with a ballistic missile, hitting its target and disrupting airport operations. This comes as recent clashes in Yemen have intensified and developments along the country's borders have been significantly affected.

Response of the Yemeni government and its consequences

One day before this attack, the Yemeni government, which is supported by Saudi Arabia and recognized, announced a large-scale operation against the Houthis. This operation aims to gain control over new areas in Yemen. Meanwhile, the Houthis also warned passenger airlines to refrain from flying in Saudi Arabian airspace.

Yahya Saree stated in a statement: "We once again warn all international airlines to refrain from continuing flights in Saudi Arabian airspace." He also referred to the escalating tensions in the region and said that these attacks could have serious consequences for flight safety.

According to UN reports, the war in Yemen has displaced over 200,000 people within the country. Meanwhile, the Yemeni government claims to have been able to drive Houthi forces out of strategic areas along the Red Sea coast and around the port city of Al-Mokha.

Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the coalition forces, announced that 82 Houthi military targets in the provinces of Saada, Marib, Al-Jawf, and Al-Hudaydah have been destroyed. However, he did not provide details on casualties or damages, and his claims are not independently verifiable.

The reported targets included missile launch sites, command centers, and warehouses for missiles and weapons. The war in Yemen has been accompanied by a deep and complex humanitarian crisis, and the continuation of these conflicts could have broader implications for regional stability.
