A two-day conference titled 'Investment in Germany' will begin tonight in Berlin. This conference is held with the aim of attracting private investments to strengthen the government's public spending.

Opening Speech by Friedrich Merz

Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, will deliver the opening speech at this conference. About 200 representatives from major German and international companies are expected to attend this event. One of the most important guests at this conference is Jensen Huang, the CEO of the American chip manufacturer Nvidia.

Collaboration with Nvidia in the Field of Artificial Intelligence

The German government is seeking close collaboration with Nvidia, as the company's products play a vital role in the AI boom. The goal of this collaboration is to help Germany advance in this field. However, the German Economic Institute (IW) has warned about the high expectations of participants from this conference, stating that high labor, energy, and bureaucracy costs in Germany hinder investment attraction in the country.

Michel Heiter, the director of IW, stated: "Believing that this conference will quickly change the situation is foolish. Companies do not choose Germany for a promotional event. What matters is whether they can make a profit here or not."

Decline in Investment in Germany

Research conducted by Allianz shows that investment in Germany is expected to decline by about 6.4 percent between 2019 and 2025. In comparison, this figure has increased by 6.7 percent in other Eurozone countries and by 20.2 percent in the United States. These statistics indicate serious challenges for Germany in attracting new investments.

New Statistics on Women in Leadership

New statistics regarding the status of women in leadership positions and government officials in Germany and the European Union in 2025 are also set to be published on Monday. This data could provide a closer look at the role of women in power and politics in Germany.

Normal Operations at Leipzig/Halle Airport

In other news, Leipzig/Halle Airport has returned to normal operations following a security incident that led to a major police operation. This incident occurred after a drone carrying explosives was discovered at the airport, which was likely intended for an attack named Russia.
