Zarif emphasized the country's readiness to defend itself in response to recent American threats, stating: "Iran has gained valuable experiences and has acquired more preparedness compared to past wars." The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that defensive readiness and pursuing diplomacy are not contradictory, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is also ready in the path of diplomacy to ensure the rights of the Iranian people.

He also mentioned Iran's seven-point plan in New York and emphasized that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation should play a more active role in resolving disputes among Islamic countries. Zarif expressed hope that with the beginning of Iraq's presidency of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, this organization can play a more significant role in the issues of the Islamic world.

He noted that Lebanon's internal issues pertain to the Lebanese people and groups, and Hezbollah is one of the most important currents in Lebanese society.
