Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, emphasized in a note that Iran is ready to give diplomacy another chance. He made this statement as the resumption of negotiations to end the imposed war is facing delays due to Washington's breach of commitments.

Necessity of U.S. Seriousness for Agreement

In his note published in the Financial Times, Araghchi stated that the way forward is only possible if the U.S. government truly accepts that there is no military option. He also referred to a common message he received during his meetings with foreign ministers of other countries, stating that Iran seeks a fair and dignified agreement with the United States.

Iran's Readiness for Defense

Araghchi also emphasized that Iran is fully prepared to defend itself and criticized the miscalculations of Donald Trump, the President of the United States. He stated that the claim of Iran's armed forces not being prepared for defense is incorrect, and existing evidence contradicts this claim.

According to Araghchi, Iran is seeking a peaceful solution to end this dispute. He also reiterated his emphasis on the necessity of trusting the U.S. and stated that there is no trust in the sincerity of the U.S. government's claims of wanting peace with Iran.

Araghchi added that as a diplomat, he sees it as his duty to make every effort to provide an opportunity for diplomacy and presented a plan to the U.S. at the recent United Nations General Assembly that includes necessary actions from both sides to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

He also referred to the costs of war, stating that the U.S. military aggression against Iran has incurred heavy costs for American citizens. Araghchi emphasized that due to its geographical position, Iran will always have leverage over maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

In conclusion, Araghchi warned that any escalation of tensions around the Strait of Hormuz would endanger civilians and global economic security, emphasizing that if he sees evidence of the U.S.'s genuine desire to reach a fair solution, Iran is ready to give diplomacy another chance.
