Ismail Baqai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to Marco Rubio's claim, the U.S. Secretary of State, who stated that "Iran has missed several opportunities for an agreement," emphasizing that "distorting historical facts cannot erase the reality of the repeated breaches of promise by the United States from the public's mind."
U.S. Breaches of Promise and Their Consequences
Baqai pointed to the repeated breaches of promise by the United States, including the unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear agreement in 2018 and the destruction of diplomatic processes, holding the U.S. responsible for the existing insecurity in the region and its economic consequences. He stressed: "Projection and vacillation cannot overshadow the public demand in the U.S. and the world for holding accountable those responsible for the illegal war and the committed crimes."

Developments in Iran-U.S. Negotiations
In response to a question about the latest developments in Iran-U.S. negotiations, Baqai said: "The considerations and conditions of the Islamic Republic of Iran for ending the imposed war on all fronts and restoring security to the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz have been clearly and decisively articulated, and necessary responses to the proposals of the other side will be provided through mediators."
He also clarified that "message exchanges (between Iran and the U.S.) are conducted through intermediaries." The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to the diplomatic processes related to peace and security issues in the region, especially commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "The importance of shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz, which has unfortunately been disrupted due to U.S. malice, is certainly greater for the Islamic Republic of Iran than for any other party."
Cooperation with Oman and Strengthening Security in the Strait of Hormuz
Baqai continued: "Iran, in consultation with Oman as another coastal state of this waterway, has spared no effort to restore security to the Strait of Hormuz." He also reported on the ongoing consultations between Iran and Oman, stating that the two sides have agreed on the geographical coordinates of safe inbound and outbound routes in the Strait of Hormuz and have reached an understanding on how to reflect the issue at the international level, which will be carried out soon.
In conclusion, Baqai, in response to a question about the possibility of holding a joint meeting between Iran and Oman with other Gulf states, stated: "Iran will continue its efforts to strengthen trust and interaction among the countries of the region." He noted: "Defenders of the homeland in both diplomacy and the field are determined and steadfast in defending the integrity of Iran and ensuring the national interests and security of our country."
