Kimi Antonelli (Kimi Antonelli) was recognized as the youngest champion in Formula One history at the age of 20 years and 68 days. He achieved this title by finishing third in the Mexican Grand Prix, breaking the previous record held by Sebastian Vettel (Sebastian Vettel). Vettel became world champion at the age of 23 in 2010.

Italian pride after 70 years

Antonelli is also the first Italian Formula One champion since 1953. After the race, he said: "I am speechless. I am trying to understand what just happened." His family was present at the moment he got out of the car to embrace him.

He continued: "This has been an amazing season, and sharing this podium with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton is truly incredible. I am looking forward to more battles in the future."

Final challenges and claiming the title

With four races remaining, Antonelli was able to claim the championship title. He commented on the final lap: "The last lap was complicated for me because I couldn't see ahead. I thought I saw two Ferraris. This moment was very special, and many memories came to my mind."

He also said: "After achieving one of my biggest dreams, I expressed my emotions." Antonelli is at the top of the standings with 380 points. Max Verstappen (261) and Lewis Hamilton (259) are following him and will compete for second place.

Antonelli started the race from fourth place and needed to finish ninth or better to secure the championship title. The race was stopped due to a crash by Valtteri Bottas on lap 45 with a red flag. Verstappen also secured his sixth victory in the Mexican Grand Prix, marking this win as a significant achievement for himself.

After the Mexican Grand Prix, Formula One will head to Brazil and then Las Vegas. The last two Grands Prix will be held in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, but their occurrence is still uncertain due to geographical instability in the region.
