Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon have a better position in recent polls compared to other candidates in the French presidential election. According to the latest research by Cluster 17, published on October 26, feelings of rejection towards representatives of the central camp are on the rise.

Changes in Voter Sentiments

The recent poll indicates that after two terms of Emmanuel Macron's presidency, the people of France are increasingly inclined towards options that represent radical changes. Le Pen and Mélenchon, as symbols of these changes, currently hold a better position compared to Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal from the central camp.

The poll conducted between October 19 and 22, following the unrest on October 17, shows that all candidates have been rejected by the majority of the public. However, Le Pen is recognized as one of the notable options due to a decrease in the percentage of people who completely reject her.

Status of Other Candidates

Marine Tondelier, representing the ecologists, remains at the top of the rejection list, with 71 percent of people refusing to vote for her. Additionally, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is in second place on this list with 69 percent. This situation indicates an increase in negative sentiments towards these candidates compared to last month.

On the other hand, Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal are in a similar situation with 56 and 59 percent, respectively, as people increasingly feel negatively about voting for them. Particularly Attal, who has become discredited in the eyes of the public and seems to lack a clear understanding of the reason for his candidacy.

In contrast, 61 percent of people feel negatively about voting for François Hollande, the former president, indicating significant challenges for him in returning to the political arena.

However, amid these negative numbers, there is a hopeful point for the central camp. The poll shows that 43 percent of people prioritize preventing the victory of the leftist movement (LFI), while only 14 percent have their main goal as preventing the victory of the Macronist camp. This means that even with negative sentiments, there is hope for representatives of the central camp to prevent the victory of extremists, provided they advance to the second round of the election.
