Two mysterious explosions occurred early Thursday in two neighborhoods of Frankfurt, causing minor damage to small businesses. The explosions took place at 4 AM in front of a café in the "Nordend" neighborhood and a few minutes later in front of a kiosk in the city center.
Details of the Explosions
The police have stated that fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Images from the café show that its windows were shattered and glass pieces scattered onto the street. A police spokesperson told the DPA news agency: "We have officers on the scene and are seriously investigating the matter." However, the police have not yet provided any information regarding the motive or potential suspects for these explosions.
History of Explosions in Frankfurt
In recent days, two other explosions occurred in Frankfurt and one explosion in Offenbach. All three explosions caused minor damage and no injuries were reported. Additionally, early Monday, an explosion was reported in an apartment building in Frankfurt-Bahnhheim. Explosions also occurred on Sunday in the Sachsenhausen neighborhood of Frankfurt and Offenbach, damaging a bar, a café, and a newsstand.
After the explosion in Sachsenhausen, a 15-year-old suspect was arrested and is currently in temporary custody. The recent explosions in Frankfurt have occurred following several similar explosions in the Rhine-Main area over the past weeks and months. The police have attributed some of these incidents to organized crime and the phenomenon of "violence as service," where teenagers and young adults are specifically hired to carry out these acts.
Authorities have not yet determined whether the Thursday morning explosions fall under this category. These incidents have raised concerns among residents of the neighborhoods, and the police emphasize that they are conducting a thorough investigation into these cases.
