Omar Sy, the French actor, has recently spoken in an interview about the fourth season of the series Lupin and his reaction to the recent Louvre heist. With a smile and positive energy, he referred to the French national team's defeat in the World Cup, saying: "If I complain about the World Cup as a great misfortune, it means things aren't that bad." He visited the La Plaine Saint-Denis studio this summer to introduce this season of the series.

Global Success of Lupin

Omar Sy, in collaboration with Caroussel Studio, has turned the series Lupin into one of the most-watched non-English language series on Netflix. He talked about the beginning of this project, saying: "A few years ago, alongside Louis Leterrier, we felt we had a great opportunity ahead of us. At that time, Netflix in France was still an uncertain topic, but we knew this series would be seen worldwide. We just said: Let's create a show that does justice to France."

Reaction to the Louvre Heist

Omar Sy commented on the recent Louvre heist, which closely resembled the story of Lupin, saying: "I was a bit taken aback. People were calling me and naturally making a connection between the two topics. I was initially shocked that the thieves managed to recreate something similar to what we did in Lupin. That thought was both interesting and ridiculous, but then I felt guilty and asked myself: 'How much of this incident is my responsibility?'"

He also noted that writing Lupin's stories pays attention to moral values, and although the characters in the story are thieves, their goals pursue a kind of justice. Omar Sy proudly stated that Lupin has not only been a great success for him but has also revived interest in the works of Maurice Leblanc, the original author of this character.

A Deeper Look at Society

Omar Sy continued to refer to his choices in roles, saying: "I always try to address deeper issues in society. When I say I take time to live before expressing my feelings, that’s exactly why. I always have to say something, even if that topic comes through a specific story or character." He mentioned the character Assane Diop and his social concerns, stating that this character represents those who are overlooked in society.

Given Omar Sy's successes and his positive impacts on the film and television industry, it is clear that he is recognized not only as an actor but also as a cultural ambassador for France. He believes that anyone living outside their country becomes a representative of their culture, and this is evident in his work.
