Poland's police announced on Thursday that they have arrested six individuals on charges of illegally sending military parts to Russia. Of these six, four are facing espionage charges and have been placed in pre-trial detention for three months.
Details of the Charges and Arrests
Investigations show that this group has illegally sent significant quantities of parts used in the manufacture of munitions and weapon systems to Moscow. This comes as Russia is under severe restrictions due to international sanctions. Four suspects, including a Russian woman, are accused of espionage, while two others are under non-custodial restrictions. All six individuals are also accused of violating laws related to international trade in strategic goods and technologies.

Consequences of This Action and Reactions
Tomasz Siemoniak, Poland's intelligence coordinator, stated: "Russia is under strict sanctions in this regard, and this operation was designed to circumvent them." The suspects include five Poles aged between 25 and 52 years and a 37-year-old Russian woman. Poland, as a member of the European Union and NATO, is a major supporter of Ukraine and serves as the main route for military and humanitarian aid to the country.
Siemoniak also noted that since the beginning of 2024, nearly 100 individuals have been charged in espionage and sabotage investigations by Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW). Warsaw has repeatedly accused Russia of sabotage, especially following Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. On Tuesday, Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, announced that the country had thwarted a potential provocation at the border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.
The Russian embassy has not responded to requests for immediate comment. The Kremlin has consistently denied any sabotage actions in NATO countries.
