The Strait of Hormuz is currently a focal point of tension between Iran and the United States, and Qatar is working as a mediator to break the deadlock between the two countries. Current negotiations are centered around Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and move towards broader agreements. However, disagreements over the sequence of actions and nuclear issues continue.

The Situation in Iran from Trump's Perspective

Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, recently stated that he does not know whether Iran will still "surrender" or not, but he described the current situation in Iran as "very bad." These remarks come as indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States are being pursued through Qatar, and it seems both sides are still striving to reach an agreement.

New Sanctions and Their Impact on Negotiations

The U.S. Treasury Department has also imposed new sanctions against Iran, targeting 10 individuals and entities from Iran, Hong Kong, and Pakistan for allegedly assisting in the supply of weapons and parts for Iran's Ministry of Defense. This action is part of the Trump administration's "Operation Economic Outcast" campaign. U.S. officials believe that reaching an agreement will not be possible without addressing Iran's nuclear program. On the other hand, Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized that the recent negotiations have specifically focused on the conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and nuclear issues are not a priority in the discussions.

Security Consultations Between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia

In this context, Marco Rubio, a U.S. senator, along with the Saudi Foreign Minister, discussed regional security, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the escalation of conflicts with the Houthis. These consultations indicate that the current crisis has gone beyond the direct confrontation between Iran and the U.S. and has expanded to regional security issues as well.

It appears that Qatar's mediation efforts are ongoing, and all parties are trying to achieve a comprehensive agreement by reducing tensions and creating a space for negotiation. However, existing disagreements over nuclear issues and sanctions may affect the negotiation process.
