Rashad Al-Alimi, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, called for public mobilization in war-torn Yemen on Friday. Al-Alimi, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Yemen, urged the people of Yemen to join the public and national mobilization and unite around their armed and security forces.
Aim of Public Mobilization
In this speech, he stated that the aim of the mobilization is to "restore state institutions and expand sovereignty across the national territory." Al-Alimi emphasized the necessity of retaking Yemen's capital, Sana'a, which has been under Houthi control since 2014. He also announced that anyone who joins the government from the Houthis will be granted amnesty in the future.

Attention to Residents in Houthi-Controlled Areas
Al-Alimi also addressed the residents of Houthi-controlled areas and urged them to refrain from sending their children to the front lines. He said: "The government does not see you as a party to the war, but rather as its people and partners." These remarks come as the Houthis have increased their missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia in recent months.
For over a decade, the Houthis have been at war with the Yemeni government, which is supported by Saudi Arabia. Although a ceasefire in 2022 largely ended the tensions, fighting has resumed in recent weeks following an escalation of conflicts between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The Houthis recently declared a naval blockade and targeted Saudi facilities to disrupt Saudi oil exports. The group has also accused Saudi Arabia of blockading areas under its control and attacked Riyadh for the first time in recent years last weekend, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.
