Russia and Ukraine exchanged deadly attacks against each other's infrastructure last night. These attacks took place while Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, is preparing to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Details of the attacks in Ukraine

According to reports from Ukrainian officials, Russian airstrikes on Ukraine last night resulted in the deaths of four people and also cut off electricity for thousands. These attacks occurred in the cities of Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Oleksandr Hryshchenko, the governor of the region, announced that these attacks included anti-ship and ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles, and 212 drones.

Consequences of the attacks in Russia

On the other side, in Russia, Ukrainian drones killed one person and injured four others in the Samara region. This area has important facilities including oil refineries. The Moscow Defense Ministry reported that it intercepted 297 drones in various regions of Russia overnight. Samara is located about 1000 kilometers southeast of Moscow.

The recent attacks come as the war in Ukraine has continued for four and a half years with no signs of an end. Both sides insist they do not target civilians and accuse each other of causing civilian casualties.

The recent attacks occur on the eve of Volodymyr Zelensky's meeting with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, in New York. It is expected that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, will not attend this United Nations General Assembly.
