The United States midterm elections will take place on November 3. These elections involve electing representatives for the people in both houses of Congress, namely the House of Representatives and the Senate, and some states will also vote for their governors.
Importance of the Midterm Elections
The midterm elections are held every four years, halfway between presidential elections. These elections are typically seen as a referendum on the sitting president and the ruling party. Currently, polls indicate that public satisfaction with President Donald Trump is at its lowest level.

Current Composition of Congress
All seats in the U.S. House of Representatives will be up for election. This House has 435 members, each representing a congressional district. Currently, there are 218 Republican representatives, 214 Democratic representatives, and one independent representative in the House. It is expected that the Democrats will be able to gain a majority in this election.
In the Senate, there are also 100 seats, with two seats allocated for each of the 50 states. Currently, there are 53 Republicans and 45 Democrats in the Senate, along with two independent senators who usually vote with the Democrats. The Democrats need four more seats to gain a majority in this chamber.
Governor Elections and Their Impact on People's Lives
In 36 states, voting will also take place to elect governors. Governors typically serve for four years and make important decisions in areas such as legislation on abortion and education. Therefore, the victory of Democrats or Republicans in this election could significantly impact the daily lives of people.
Considering that voter turnout in midterm elections is usually lower than in presidential elections, the results of these elections could influence U.S. policies in the coming years. If the Democrats can gain a majority in either of the two chambers, changes in domestic and foreign policies are likely.
