The United States government, led by Donald Trump, has reported the possibility of a major agreement with Russia to end the Ukraine war. Trump spoke about this after an unexpected meeting with Vladimir Putin's special representative, Kirill Dmitriev, at the White House.

Details of the potential agreement

Trump stated in a conversation with reporters that the Ukraine war is on the verge of resolution and its end could involve "all of Europe." He said, “I can’t say what discussions we had, but I will just say that this will be an agreement, and it will be a big agreement.”

He added, “This agreement will be very big and will include more than just Ukraine, and I can even say that it may involve all of Europe. This will be a big and beautiful agreement, and everyone will be happy about it.”

Current negotiations and events

Trump also noted that he did not meet with Ukrainian officials who were also present at the White House that day. Meanwhile, Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and U.S. special representative, announced that the United States, NATO, and European partners had constructive and substantive discussions on resolving the Ukraine war on Thursday.

Kushner stated in his post on social media platform X, “Our goal is to address the security concerns of all parties through practical and agreed arrangements that reduce the risk of future conflicts.” These negotiations will take place next week in Abu Dhabi with representatives from Kyiv and Moscow.

Two delegations from Russia and Ukraine also attended a ceremony at the White House on Thursday to honor Melania Trump for her efforts in establishing a ceasefire in the city of Oshki. At this ceremony, the Russian representative, Dmitriev, thanked Melania Trump for her prominent humanitarian role in securing a six-day ceasefire.

Dmitriev also added that Vladimir Putin personally issued directives in this regard and sent thanks to Melania Trump. At this ceremony, Davyd Arakhamia, head of the parliamentary faction of Volodymyr Zelensky's party, and Dima Levintsy, a human rights defender from Ukraine, also spoke. Arakhamia praised Melania Trump in his remarks and urged her to continue helping the people of Ukraine.
