Trump, speaking to reporters while leaving Dallas on Thursday, explicitly said: "I have no concerns. I am worried that if we cannot win in artificial intelligence, we will be in a bad position." He also referred to America's lead over China, adding: "We are currently ahead of China."
These remarks come amid heated discussions about the serious risks of artificial intelligence, especially following a video post from a former researcher at major AI companies like Anthropic and OpenAI. This researcher warned that leading companies in this field "are gambling with our lives" and could ultimately lead to the destruction of humanity.
Confrontation with Opposing Views
Interestingly, Trump's statements contrast with the views of other Republicans. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas, who chairs the Commerce Committee, stated in an interview that the risks of artificial intelligence are "extremely concerning" and emphasized that America should not fall behind China.
Meanwhile, Representative Anna Paulina Luna from Florida has called for a special session in Congress to examine the impacts of artificial intelligence. It seems that Trump, as a strong supporter of the AI industry in America, is firmly opposed to this approach.
He also criticized those calling for a reduction in data center construction due to environmental concerns, stating: "The only reason communities across America should not seek data centers is that they want to remain backward and poor."
