The administration of Donald Trump as President of the United States is currently seeking to align with individuals whom he considers winners. In this regard, remarks by Greg Stanton, head of U.S. political policy, at the Playbook Live event in Brussels, have drawn attention. Stanton noted that to continue Washington's support for Ukraine, Europeans must convince Trump that they and Ukraine are on the winning side of the war.

Friendly Relations and Trump's Criteria

Stanton, referring to the friendly relations between Trump and leftist New York Mayor Zohra Mammadani, examined Trump's approach to attracting popular figures. He said: "Trump wants to associate with winners and does not care about people's policies. Mammadani is young, attractive, and smart, and these traits are what attract Trump."

Consequences of the Ukraine War

Stanton also pointed out that if enough people can convince Trump that Vladimir Putin and Russia are losing and Ukraine is advancing, this could have a significant impact on U.S. policies. He referred to Ukraine's new advancements in drone technologies and stated that the country is pushing back Russian forces. Stanton emphasized: "Ukraine has really become a hot topic."

Given this analysis, it seems that Trump is inclined to connect with anyone who is currently popular. This could mean changes in U.S. policies and how to deal with the Ukraine crisis. As the war in Ukraine continues, international support, especially from the United States for Kyiv, is crucial.
