Two local government employees in Bavaria were shot dead during a routine inspection of legal firearms. The incident occurred in the village of Berngau in southern Germany, and the 60-year-old suspect was arrested after a lengthy 12-hour standoff with police.

The two employees, a 45-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, had gone to the suspect's home to check compliance with legal firearm storage. In their intervention, police also used explosives. A police spokesperson stated that the suspect was injured in the leg as a result of the shooting. During the operation, one of the employees, the 45-year-old man, was found outside the house and unfortunately had lost his life. The body of the 54-year-old woman was later discovered inside the building.
