Ukraine's drone attack on the Moscow region resulted in the deaths of two people. Local officials reported that an oil refinery was also targeted in this attack. This assault is part of the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia and has caused damage to Russian energy facilities.

Economic Impact of the Attack

Frequent Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries in Russia have led to rising fuel prices and shortages of petroleum products. Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated that this attack has had a significant impact and is putting pressure on Russia's war budget. He added that the oil produced at this refinery helps finance Russia's war machine.

More Details on the Attack

Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, reported that since Saturday, over 1,600 drones have been identified and destroyed by Russian forces, with 450 of them launched towards the Russian capital. This attack is considered one of the largest drone assaults by Ukraine on Moscow since the beginning of Russia's large-scale invasion in 2022. Sobyanin emphasized that some drones have damaged the oil refinery and an apartment, but the extent of the damage to the refinery has not yet been determined.

This attack coincided with the last day of Russia's three-day parliamentary elections, which Sobyanin described as a planned action to disrupt the elections. Meanwhile, in the Kherson region, located in eastern Ukraine and under Russian occupation, a drone attack on a bus resulted in the deaths of two people, including an election official.

In Ukraine, Russian drone attacks have significantly increased in recent days, with local officials reporting the deaths of four people in an attack in the Kyiv region. In this attack, a mother and her two three-year-old children were killed, and another girl was hospitalized and later died. The Fastiv region is also suffering from serious damage to buildings and industrial facilities.
