Xi Jinping, the President of China, concluded his visit to the United States with a visit to the National Archives in Washington, D.C. This trip is considered Xi's first official visit to the U.S. in over a decade, and on its final day, he and Donald Trump, the President of the United States, along with their spouses, sat down for an informal tea session at the White House.

Visit to the National Archives and Key Issues

After the tea session, the Chinese President and his American counterpart went to the National Archives, where the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights are kept. Xi Jinping will leave Washington after this visit. On Wednesday, Trump and Xi met at the White House and held a state dinner.

Despite these meetings, analyses indicate that little progress was made on key issues in U.S.-China relations during this summit, including trade tensions and AI regulation. At the dinner, Trump praised his guest, stating, "We have the friendliest relations" and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Protests Outside the White House

Meanwhile, protests were held near the White House against Xi Jinping's visit. Protesters emphasized various issues, including religious freedom and autonomy in Tibet, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang, and called on China to refrain from interference in Taiwan. These protests took place in Lafayette Park and in front of the Chinese embassy.

At the dinner, in addition to the Presidents and their spouses, prominent tech figures were also present. Notable attendees included Jeff Bezos (founder of Amazon), Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla), and Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Meta). Trump described this dinner as "the most popular event in town" and stated, "The entire world of technology and banking is here."

Xi Jinping also expressed his support for the agreement between the U.S. and Iran to end the war in Iran and hopes that the two countries will soon return to resolving issues through dialogue and negotiation. This visit and the meetings have attracted significant attention, as many sensitive issues between the two countries remain unresolved.
