Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced on Friday that Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has allowed him to construct Patriot missiles in Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized in his online post that there are "specific agreements" in this regard between Kyiv and Washington.
Agreements on the Sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly
Zelensky's statements came a few days after his meeting with Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. During this meeting, the two leaders discussed the security situation in Ukraine and military cooperation between the two countries. Zelensky stated that the agreements regarding Patriot licenses could help strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

Security and Military Dimensions
Patriot missiles are recognized as one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world and have a high capability to counter aerial threats. Given the existing tensions in the region and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, this agreement could help strengthen Kyiv's defensive capabilities. Zelensky also emphasized that military cooperation with the United States could lead to greater stability in the region.
This agreement also reflects changes in the United States' foreign policy approach, especially under Trump's leadership. While previous administrations had refrained from military support for Ukraine, it now seems that Trump intends to strengthen his role in supporting Ukraine with this decision.
Zelensky further noted that these agreements will help Ukraine against external threats and could lead to an improvement in the military situation of his country. However, he urged the international community to continue its support for Ukraine and help strengthen the security of this country.
