Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, strongly rejected former U.S. President Donald Trump's claim of an agreement between Ukraine and Russia to halt attacks on each other's energy infrastructure. These statements come as the situation on the battlefronts between the two countries is extremely tense.
Trump's Claim and Zelensky's Response
Recently, Trump remarked on Ukraine's ineffectiveness in reducing fuel prices in global markets and announced that Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement to halt attacks on energy infrastructure. According to him, this agreement arose due to rising fuel prices and the energy crisis. However, Zelensky quickly dismissed this claim and emphasized that Ukraine does not trust any agreement with Russia.

Zelensky stated in a post on social media platform X that Ukraine has no trust in Russia's true intentions to adhere to any agreement and added, "Ukraine will continue its attacks unless Russia adheres to its commitments." He also emphasized that any ceasefire must be long-term and sustainable to be reliable.
Ceasefire Conditions and Ukraine's Concerns
Zelensky also pointed out that if an agreement for a ceasefire is reached, it should not be used as a tool for temporarily reducing tensions. He believes that any ceasefire should be structured in a way that Russia cannot use it to hold its parliamentary elections from September 18 to 20. Zelensky added that he and his colleagues are awaiting more details from their international partners on this matter.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has yet to respond to Trump's claim. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, emphasized Trump's statements regarding the need to halt Ukraine's attacks on economic infrastructure but refrained from answering whether Russia would also cease its attacks.
In May, Trump managed to establish a three-day ceasefire that allowed Russia to hold Victory Day celebrations. However, during those days, Moscow attacked Ukraine with 40 drones and one ballistic missile.
