Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine's Foreign Minister, stated at the Warsaw Security Conference that Ukraine is now stronger than it was a year ago and warned Donald Trump not to jeopardize this power. He added: "In less than two years, we have gone from having no cards to not playing with cards. This is a real achievement."

Changes in Ukraine's Position

Sybiha recalled that last year, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, faced Trump in the Oval Office, and Trump mocked him for not having a card to play with Russia. However, Trump has recently asked Zelensky to "better end Ukraine's attacks on Russian facilities," indicating a change in Ukraine's position and its capabilities in fighting Russia.

European Concerns

European leaders are concerned that Trump's efforts to lower fuel prices ahead of the U.S. midterm elections could weaken Ukraine's position. Sybiha also referred to criticisms of the U.S. at the Warsaw Conference, stating: "Ministers and heads of state do not say what they think about Americans, but they have negative feelings about negotiations with Putin."

Poland's Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, also emphasized that the war should end by convincing the aggressor to limit its ambitions, rather than asking the victim to surrender.

Germany's Foreign Minister, Johan Wadfoul, noted that Berlin is pressuring the Trump administration to fully implement the energy sanctions approved by the U.S. Congress. He said: "This is not the right time to reduce the sanctions regime; rather, it should be strengthened."

Additionally, Edward Miliband, the UK's Foreign Minister, urged Trump to pressure Russia to agree to an energy ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Sybiha responded to rumors about the cessation of U.S. intelligence cooperation with Kyiv due to Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil facilities, stating: "We still have intelligence cooperation." He also emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine's capability to counter Russian air attacks.

Sybiha concluded by saying: "The future of Europe and the architecture of global security are currently being determined in Ukraine."
