Iran-backed Houthis announced on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia has recently conducted airstrikes on border areas of Yemen. A satellite television channel controlled by the Houthis reported that two attacks targeted Kamaran Island in the Red Sea and another attack targeted Qanawis, north of the port of Al Hudaydah.

New Reports of Clashes

Furthermore, reports of additional attacks in Al Jawf province have emerged, with the Houthis stating that their forces shot down a Saudi drone over Saada, one of the Houthi strongholds. These attacks come just hours after warning sirens sounded in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, accompanied by loud explosions. Riyadh has faced heavy attacks in recent days, and clashes between the two sides have intensified.

Economic and Security Impacts

Since Saudi Arabia entered the Yemeni civil war in 2015, the Houthis have been fighting against this country. Recently, the Houthis have repeatedly targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, with one of these attacks on Saturday resulting in the deaths of 13 people, marking the deadliest attack in the country in over a decade.

Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, called on Tuesday for an immediate end to Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, telling his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, that there is no justification for these attacks and such actions cannot be accepted.

International and Domestic Reactions

The increase in Houthi activities has occurred following the U.S. and Israeli war against Iran, which began on February 28. This group has acted as a proxy force, assisting Iran in destabilizing the region, particularly by targeting oil and transportation infrastructure.

As the world's largest oil exporter, Saudi Arabia has been affected by these attacks, and the security of the country has been severely impacted. The International Monetary Fund has predicted that Saudi Arabia's GDP will decrease by 3.3% due to this situation.
