Disney adults are easily ridiculed. Those who visit Disney parks annually are criticized not only for the high costs of their trips but also for their affection for these places. This mockery is prevalent on social media, and these individuals are generally seen as people stuck in their childhood.

Joy in Traveling to Disney

Disney adults often wear Disney-themed clothing and use accessories like mouse hats and Loungefly backpacks. The criticism towards these individuals stems from the belief that instead of traveling to other places, they choose to go to Disney. Some believe that these expenses should be spent on “real” trips. But should we really put a price on others' happiness?

As a Disney adult, I take pride in this. I grew up during the Disney renaissance and still don’t miss any of the new movies. I even dress my dog as Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story for Halloween. When I get bored, instead of browsing the internet, I check the wait times for rides. I invest in my happiness.

The Reason for Returning to Disney

A trip to Walt Disney World is a familiar and enjoyable experience for me and many Disney adults. These trips help us connect with our childhood and experience that carefree feeling once again. Given that new attractions and experiences are added to these places each time, Disney World offers nostalgia and an opportunity to create new memories.

Disney adults are no different from other passionate fans. As someone who grew up in Yankee Stadium, I can attest to this. My father worked for 47 years at the home of the New York Yankees, and I witnessed Yankees fans spending thousands of dollars on season tickets and their favorite seats. These fans spend money on overpriced drinks at the stadium, and no one bats an eye. But when a Disney adult showcases a collection of limited-edition mouse hats, everyone reacts negatively.

In my life, these fans are praised for their loyalty to the Yankees, while Disney adults face ridicule. As someone who frequently visits Walt Disney World, I encounter sarcastic reactions, but I continue to travel to Disney because it brings me joy.

Ultimately, Disney adults are not just one type of fan. Some spend a lot of money on annual passes and character dining, while many others can enjoy Disney without entering the parks. On my recent trip to Disney, I spent a lot of time at the BoardWalk area, which doesn’t require a ticket, and watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach. Such experiences show that enjoying Disney can be done in various ways.

Finally, feeling safe at Disney is very important to me. I can confidently walk around the parks without worrying about harassment or other dangers. This sense of security allows me to enjoy non-alcoholic drinks without being judged.
