As the midterm elections approach, Democrats are training over 10,000 volunteers to address any threats or fears from voters on Election Day. This program, titled the New Field Project, is coordinated by state Democratic committees and aims to ensure election security across the country.
Training Volunteers and Protecting Democracy
Volunteer groups known as "Democracy Protectors" will wear blue clothing on Election Day to distinguish themselves. These volunteers will receive training to de-escalate tensions and document misconduct. The collected information regarding these incidents will be sent to state committees and the national Democrats to take necessary actions. This training is designed based on past experiences in Minnesota.

Creating Informational Teams and Voter Registration
In addition to the "Democracy Protectors," the New Field Project includes teams that encourage people to register and vote early and address misinformation and online rumors. This program is being implemented on a larger scale than in previous years, aiming to respond to voters' concerns about potential interference.
Democratic spokesperson, Jane Kleeb, notes that this initiative is due to concerns about the potential deployment of federal forces to polling places by Donald Trump and his supporters. She emphasizes that Democrats do not want to face the feeling of having ignored serious threats after the elections.
The Department of Justice has also recently announced that its Civil Rights Division is monitoring polling places in Florida and Wyoming. These actions are aimed at ensuring transparency and security in voting.
Although Homeland Security Secretary, Mayorkas, has emphasized that ICE agents will not be patrolling polling places, concerns among Democrats and voters have increased due to statements from Trump and his supporters. Kleeb states that Democrats want to be prepared for any situation.
