Analysis of Enemy Behavior
Ghalibaf responded to people's questions about whether negotiations with the United States could prevent their attacks, emphasizing that one cannot trust American promises at all. He stated that America's enmity with Iran is deep-rooted, and history has shown that they do not adhere to promises and agreements.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly added: "If we think we only need to fight and escalate tensions, we are mistaken. The enemy will never give up its greed and goals." He referred to the words of Imam Khomeini (RA) and stated that the interests of the Persian Gulf should belong to the nations of the region, not to America.
Model of Sustainable Deterrence
Ghalibaf continued to emphasize the necessity of creating sustainable deterrence, saying: "We must be prepared for war while negotiating with the enemy simultaneously." He stressed that Iran must become strong enough that no one dares to attack it, and this goal was well achieved during the eight years of Sacred Defense.
The Speaker also pointed out that strengthening Iran is not only military but must also consider elements such as dominance over straits and national cohesion. He emphasized that we must instill in the enemy's mind the feeling that Iran is strong and cannot be engaged in war.
Cycle of War, Negotiation, and Deterrence
Ghalibaf discussed the cycle of war, negotiation, and deterrence, stating: "At the right time, we must fight with all our might and register every military victory in the political arena." He highlighted the importance of seizing opportunities and buying time to become stronger, stating that this cycle must continue until we achieve sustainable deterrence.
In conclusion, the Speaker referred to the concept of memorandums of understanding, saying: "Memorandums should be structured in two phases, and trust in the enemy should not be placed." He believes that victory on the battlefield must be transformed into victory in the political arena, and this approach will help strengthen deterrence.
