New York - Gholamhossein Darzi, the ambassador and chargé d'affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations, strongly rejected the renewed accusations against Iran's nuclear program in a letter to the President of the UN Security Council. He stated that these accusations are not only devoid of technical foundations but are fundamentally political in nature.
Emphasis on the Peaceful Nature of the Nuclear Program
Darzi explicitly declared in this letter that Iran's nuclear program is entirely peaceful and has no aim other than the development of modern technologies and the provision of energy for the Iranian society. He pointed to Iran's scientific and technological advancements in the nuclear field, emphasizing that these advancements are in line with Iran's legal rights as an independent country entitled to use nuclear energy.
The Iranian ambassador also referred to his country's ongoing efforts to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency and said: "Iran is always ready to collaborate with the international community in terms of transparency and information exchange, but baseless and political accusations should not be encouraged."
Message to the International Community
In another part of his letter, Darzi warned the international community that adopting political and unilateral approaches towards Iran's nuclear program will not only fail to contribute to regional stability but could also lead to increased tensions. He called for respect for countries' rights to develop peaceful technologies and stated that Iran will strongly confront any threats against its national security.
This letter has been sent at a time when tensions between Iran and some Western countries, especially regarding nuclear issues, continue. The new accusations attributed to Iran's nuclear program fuel global concerns about the potential militarization of this program.
