An executive court in New Delhi ordered the release of the leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The three individuals, including Abhijit Deepke, Sourav Das, and Ashtosh Ranka, were detained for nearly 24 hours and had previously been arrested on the eve of a major protest in Delhi.

Details of the Release and Its Conditions

According to reports, these leaders were released under conditions that they must not have any "breach of peace" for a year. Ratna Singh, the legal head of the movement, announced in a post on social media platform X that these three individuals were released under such conditions. Additionally, the Delhi police had previously stated that these leaders were detained for "preventive custody" on Saturday and a bail of 50,000 rupees (approximately 460 euros) was set for maintaining peace and proper conduct.

Continued Protests and Challenges

The CJP movement has significantly become a major pressure group since the onset of widespread protests in July. This movement is calling for the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner of India, who is under pressure due to severe criticism from opposition parties, particularly Congress. Opposition parties, led by Rahul Gandhi, have also recently intensified their activities against Kumar and have initiated protests.

On Saturday, before the protests, Deepke and other CJP leaders were arrested along with a media activist named Dehruv Rathee. Rathee, who was arrested from his home in Gurugram, has recently been released and is similarly prohibited from participating in any further protests.

These protests continue as the Supreme Court of India is set to hear complaints regarding transportation restrictions on the day of the protest. These complaints have been filed due to the closure of metro stations and other traffic restrictions. On Friday, officials closed over 50 metro stations and canceled many trains to prevent protesters from entering central Delhi.

These actions led to dramatic scenes on the streets of Delhi, where young protesters faced widespread arrests while heading towards Jantar Mantar. According to sources, over 15,000 people were detained across India, with a significant number of them arrested in Delhi for violating prohibitions.

Meanwhile, Ajay Niki Shende, the interim leader of the CJP protests, announced that the movement will never back down and will return to Jantar Mantar on Sunday for a new demonstration.
