Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, clarified in an interview about the status of negotiations with the United States that negotiations are ongoing continuously through intermediary countries like Pakistan and Qatar. He stated that Iran has presented an initiative called the seven-day plan to the American side, in which it has clearly outlined its conditions. Araghchi noted that on the sixth day of this plan, the Strait of Hormuz was supposed to be fully opened.
Iran and U.S. Negotiations
Araghchi said: "The Americans informed us that they agree with our conditions, but they want to add a few more clauses to it." In response to a question about these additional conditions, he pointed out that they would not negotiate through the media and emphasized adherence to previous commitments.

Araghchi added: "In previous negotiations, we concluded that we cannot trust the Americans. In the third round of negotiations, an agreement was made with Trump, but he violated this agreement. Therefore, there is no trust in the American approach." He emphasized that the doors of diplomacy are completely open for Iran, provided that the other side adheres to the understandings.
The Importance of the Strait of Hormuz
Araghchi also referred to the situation of the Strait of Hormuz and said: "As long as an agreement regarding this strait is not reached, this route will be closed for everyone." He emphasized that the American side must accept Iran's conditions for the strait to be opened for ships and vessels. He mentioned the pressures from the U.S. in several rounds of negotiations and said: "America has not yet achieved any of its goals, and this failure is considered a strategic defeat for them."
He added: "Iran will never surrender to economic sanctions and military threats, and the only suitable solution is diplomacy and negotiation." In response to a question about recent tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, he said: "Any ship that wants to pass through this waterway faces difficulties, and this should be asked of the Americans as to why they allow ships to pass through a waterway that is fraught with problems."
At the end of the interview, Araghchi pointed out that the negotiation table is still set, stating: "The world must know that it is the American side that is closing the way, not Iran." He emphasized that if the U.S. adheres to Iran's conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will be fully opened, and negotiations for reaching a final agreement will continue.
