Josh Shapiro, the Governor of Pennsylvania, responded to Donald Trump's remarks about him. Trump called Shapiro a "bad governor" and "close to incompetent" on Friday at the White House, making these comments following the deaths of four people due to measles in the state. In response to these criticisms, Shapiro wrote on social media: "Incompetence means allowing measles, a disease that was eliminated in 2000, to resurge."
Shapiro's Response to the Measles Crisis
Shapiro further explained that the inability to control and prevent the spread of measles indicates a weakness in leadership and public health management. He added: "Incompetence means spending time tweeting instead of taking effective action to protect people. We need leadership that does real work in crises instead of playing politics." These remarks by Shapiro have gained particular significance following the rise in measles cases in Pennsylvania and the deaths of several people due to the disease.

Measles Background in the United States
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that has resurfaced in recent years due to declining vaccination rates in some communities. In 2000, the World Health Organization declared that measles had been eliminated in the United States, but in recent years, with the increase in cases of unvaccinated individuals, the disease has re-emerged as a public health threat. Public health experts warn that more efforts are needed to promote vaccination among families to prevent the resurgence of this disease.
This crisis has also fueled political challenges in Pennsylvania, where Shapiro, as a Democrat, is trying to improve public health policies while managing severe criticism from Republicans. Emphasizing the importance of vaccination, Shapiro has urged people to vaccinate their children to prevent the spread of preventable diseases.
