Jürgen Klopp, the new head coach of the Germany national team, announced his first player list on Thursday. This list includes 44 players who have been divided into two groups to participate in four upcoming matches. Klopp also announced that Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, and Serge Gnabry may stay in the camp for two weeks.
Match Schedule and Goals
In his press conference, Klopp said: "It is unusual to have four matches in two weeks. I want to get to know as many players as possible." He emphasized that there is no A or B team and that the team compositions are logical in terms of performance on the field as well as personality and experience.
This list features 11 new players, including Bamba Kone from Hoffenheim, Finn Yildiz from Stuttgart, Mika Baur from Celtic, and Dery Shahran from Freiburg. Younes Abdennour, a 23-year-old forward from Frankfurt, is also on this list, and Klopp has described him as "a great talent."
Absentees and Key Players
In this conference, Klopp also mentioned the absence of some key players, stating that Oliver Baumann, Deniz Türüç, and Leroy Sané are not on this list. However, Marc-André ter Stegen has returned to the national team after a long injury period, and Klopp currently considers him the number one goalkeeper of the team.
Klopp also highlighted the importance of football in creating a sense of solidarity and community, saying: "Football can strengthen the sense of community and bring us closer to the power of sport." He also spoke about the significance of German nationality in the current political and social conditions and expressed hope that he would no longer need to discuss politics in press conferences.
The Germany national team will face the Netherlands in Amsterdam on September 24, and then they will play against Greece in Augsburg on September 27. On October 1, Germany will play against Serbia in Munich, and finally, on October 4, they will travel to Thessaloniki to meet Greece again.
