Nigel Farage (Nigel Farage) discussed his friendship with Donald Trump (Donald Trump) in an interview with an American podcast, noting that there are many agreements between them. He said in the interview: "It is very rare that I agree with someone as much as I do with Trump, and I admire his courage."

Friendship with Trump in America

Farage, who leads the Reform Party of the UK, praised the former U.S. president in an interview with Trump-aligned commentator Benny Johnson on September 30. He said: "Donald has been my friend for a long time. I regularly go to Mar-a-Lago and have connections with many of his family members. We laugh together — he is a good man."

In the UK, Farage has tried to downplay his closeness to Trump, especially as he seeks the position of Prime Minister. In an interview with Times Radio in April, he said: "I haven't been in touch with Trump for a long time," referring to tensions in the Middle East and the war with Iran.

Farage's Political Challenges

Farage's spokesperson recently stated that he has never hidden his relationship with the president, but has acted as a critical friend on various issues such as Canada, Greenland, and Ukraine. Farage, who is seen as a fringe force in British politics, has had to adjust his stance regarding wars. He initially stated that the UK should "do everything possible to support U.S. and Israeli actions in the Middle East," but later noted that "we should not get involved in other foreign wars."

Farage also described Trump's tariff threats as "wrong" and said he would speak with the U.S. government about it. He has also criticized Trump's remarks about Canada as "the 51st state" and has distanced himself from some of Trump's views on Ukraine at times.

Trump is highly unpopular in the UK and many parts of Europe, and Farage's relationship with him is uncomfortable for many British voters. However, Farage clearly sees his connection with American right-wingers as very important. He mentioned in his interview that he has made multiple trips to Washington D.C. and Mar-a-Lago, although some of his allies have also noted that their relationship has cooled since 2024, and not all of his trips to Palm Beach have resulted in meetings with Trump.

Farage noted in the program that they do not agree on some issues, but emphasized that they are "friends and allies" who "agree on many matters."
