South Korean President Lee Jae-myung warned Ukraine on Friday that if it does not issue a public apology for disclosing the transfer of prisoners of war, further actions will be taken. This issue arose after Ukraine transferred two North Korean soldiers who had been captured during the war for Russia to South Korea.

Seoul's Strong Reaction to the Disclosure

South Korea has reacted strongly to the disclosure of the transfer of these two soldiers and warned that Pyongyang may target the families of these soldiers. Lee Jae-myung expressed regret in the early hours following the disclosure of this news and stated that Ukraine's behavior in this regard violated an agreement that was set up to maintain the confidentiality of the transfer of these soldiers.

Following this disclosure, South Korea and Ukraine have entered a state of tension, and Seoul has asked Kyiv to apologize for this matter. Lee wrote in a post on social media X (formerly Twitter): "If they do not continue and do not admit the facts, we will take additional actions."

Mutual Claims and Efforts to Improve Relations

Lee Jae-myung also accused Ukraine of lying, stating that the country has portrayed him as a liar. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have denied this claim, stating that there was no agreement to maintain confidentiality. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated on Thursday that Kyiv is trying to improve its relations with Seoul and described it as a diplomatic misunderstanding.

He said: "South Korea is an important country for us, and I hope to continue cooperation and achieve tangible results with them." These remarks reflect Ukraine's willingness to improve relations with South Korea and efforts to reduce tensions between the two countries.

This issue highlights the complex challenges in international relations and underscores the need for strong diplomacy to manage such crises. In the meantime, both countries are expected to continue dialogue and negotiations to find suitable solutions.
