The Donald Trump administration, the President of the United States, announced that the Ukraine war has had severe negative impacts on Russia's energy sector and that the country has lost control over its oil industry. Trump said in a post on his social media on Monday: "Unfortunately, Russia has lost control of its diesel oil industry due to the war with Ukraine."

Increased Ukrainian Attacks on Russian Energy Infrastructure

Trump referred to the escalation of Ukrainian attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, adding that these attacks have rendered nearly half of the country's refining capacity inoperable. He expressed concern about the state of Russia's oil industry, stating that "many of their diesel refineries have been blown up and have at least temporarily gone offline."

Call for an End to the War in Ukraine

Trump called for an end to the war in Ukraine, stating that "this meaningless and endless war must come to an end," and said: "The whole world is suffering, as 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are killed every month. What a shame!"

In response to these remarks, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced on platform X that his country is ready to stop its attacks on Russia, provided that the Kremlin takes similar action. He added: "Ukraine's energy sector, critical infrastructure, and our food exports should not be targets for Russia, and this will lead to reciprocal de-escalation actions on our part."

Zelensky also emphasized that "the nature of the war is such that the aggressor will also suffer." He had previously asked Trump to stop the attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, stating that these attacks "harm the world" and cause fuel shortages.

Trump and Zelensky Meeting in New York

The two presidents are scheduled to meet on Tuesday in New York. Zelensky described this meeting as an opportunity to change the situation and referred to a "diplomatic move" in the ongoing negotiations. He said: "There are ideas for de-escalation actions and addressing fundamental security issues - energy security, food security, and the protection of human lives."

The President of Ukraine emphasized that they are working with the American team and are ready to take more serious actions in this regard.
