Two Iranian citizens named Rahman S. (34 years old) and Salam A. (36 years old) have been arrested in a London court on charges of planning terrorist actions against the Jewish community in Britain. The two were arrested on September 20, the day before Yom Kippur, in London.
Case Details
The case against these two individuals was revealed on Friday, just a few days after another terrorist plot linked to Iran was thwarted. Defense attorney Mark Lakt stated in Westminster court that the two are accused of conducting 'hostile research' on Jewish targets in Manchester. They intended to use 'homemade explosive materials' and have suspiciously been in contact with a third party, likely an Iranian citizen from inside Iran.

Investigations and Discoveries
In court, it was stated that this individual is accused of providing instructions to the two on how to build an explosive device using bleach and brake fluid. The two defendants used online resources, including images, maps, and plans to identify and research potential attack locations. The declared targets include the Manchester Jewish Museum and the Heaton Park Synagogue, where two Jewish worshippers were killed in a knife attack a year ago.
The two Iranian defendants entered Britain via small boats from mainland Europe. One of them has received asylum, while the other’s asylum request is still under review. They will remain in custody until their next hearing on October 23 at the Old Bailey in London.
Wicky Evans, the national coordinator for counter-terrorism police, stated that this plot is likely unique and there is no ongoing public threat. Evans also emphasized that the Manchester plot has no connection to the suspicious incident at RAF Fairford that occurred last weekend.
On the same day, police announced that a dual British-Iranian citizen who was arrested on Thursday in connection with the RAF Fairford plot has been released on bail. This individual is the sixth person to be arrested and subsequently released in this investigation. The other five men arrested are all British, in their twenties, and from London.
