Two Iranian men named Rahman Salehi (34 years old) and Salam Ahmadian (36 years old) have been summoned to a British court on charges of committing terrorist offenses. The two appeared in court on Saturday due to a bomb plot against the Jewish community in Manchester.

Charges and Arrest

Rahman Salehi and Salam Ahmadian are being prosecuted for preparing to commit a terrorist act or assisting others in doing so. Police have stated that the two men were arrested last month, just before the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, and are accused of receiving materials and instructions related to bomb-making, identifying targets, and conducting reconnaissance operations prior to attacking Jewish targets.

Arrests and Officials' Statements

These charges were raised after Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister of Britain, announced that there is strong evidence of Iran's involvement in a suspicious incident related to RAF Fairford. In this incident, three vans were suspiciously parked, and a group of hooded and masked men were observed near the airbase.

Vicky Evans, the Deputy Commissioner for Counter-Terrorism in Britain, noted that broader threats directed from Iran towards Britain have clearly emerged in the past week, but emphasized that these two incidents are not related.

Shahbaneh Mahmoud, the Home Secretary of Britain, stated that both defendants arrived in Britain via small boats in 2020 and 2023. One of them has received asylum, while the other is awaiting a response to their asylum request.
