The fourth day of the UN General Assembly, hosted in New York, begins with the presence of representatives from various countries including Lebanon, Iraq, and Pakistan. This session will take place at 9 AM New York time (1300 UTC), and it is expected that other countries such as Egypt, Mexico, Kazakhstan, and Sweden will also deliver speeches later today.

Controversial Remarks by Netanyahu

This session is taking place as Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, rejected accusations of genocide in Gaza during his speech yesterday. These remarks sparked various reactions and led several representatives, including Mahmoud Abbas, the Prime Minister of Palestine, to leave the hall. Additionally, protesters gathered outside the UN headquarters in New York, with some being arrested.

Climate Concerns from Nepal

During this session, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Prime Minister of Nepal, addressed the issues arising from climate change and called for increased international cooperation to protect the Himalayas. He emphasized the importance of non-repayable financial assistance to affected countries, citing the devastation caused by floods in Nepal. Dahal noted that Nepal contributes less than 0.1% of global greenhouse gas emissions, yet his country bears heavy costs due to the climate crisis.

Dahal also proposed the establishment of a "Himalayan Climate Resilience Mechanism," introduced as a platform for cooperation between Nepal, India, and China. He stressed that "the Himalayas should not be a border for scattered information, but a laboratory for international cooperation."

Messages from Other Countries

In this assembly, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte also criticized attacks on the International Criminal Court and emphasized the importance of combating impunity. He told the representatives present in the hall: "How can you oppose the prosecution of the worst crimes?"

Furthermore, representatives from Yemen and Kuwait also highlighted the importance of freedom and safety of navigation in international waters and criticized Iran and its representatives in the region. Abdullah Abdulqader Al-Alimi, Deputy Chairman of the Leadership Council of Yemen, addressed the impacts of recent Houthi actions on global trade and called for serious action to ensure security at sea.

Thus, the fourth day of the UN General Assembly is dedicated to various topics including climate change, international security, and human rights, with representatives from different countries expressing their views and concerns on these issues.
